A beautiful sight but treacherous conditions

Fairfield Bay has so far been lucky enough to avoid any major power outages or water line breaks according to DPS. The police department highly recommends everyone to stay at home unless it’s an emergency. Barricades have  been put in place for your safety and traveling around them or moving them is subject to penalties and of course putting yourself and others in danger.

Listening to the scanner here at home people are traveling and getting stuck, so once again it can’t be stressed enough that unless it’s an emergency stay at home. The emergency personnel are doing the best they can and are needed for emergency situations

On Patrol in Fairfield Bay

By: Chris Waring
We still seem to have a problem with people allowing their pets to run loose. A few months back we had a serious dog attack and last week we had another person get bit by a loose dog (the bite didn’t break the skin). We have also had loose dogs attack other dogs that are properly restrained. Fairfield Bay has a City ordinance that is being actively enforced by our Animal Control Officer and the Police Department. We hear all the time that “I just let the dog out long enough to do its business”. Be a responsible pet owner and keep your pets under control at all times or you will be cited, and may end up on the wrong end of a civil case as well.
Calls this week were 3 domestic disturbance calls, 6 rescue calls, 1 assist to a resident, 1 theft investigation was opened, 1 report of illegal dumping, a tourist lost a wallet and a good samaritan turned it in to our department, it was returned to the grateful owner the next day. We also served a subpoena to a person, answered an alarm call and assisted a local business with two boys suspected of stealing condoms (turned out they just moved them and didn’t steal them).
Traffic stops this week, 2 for no permanent license plate, 6 speeding, 5 defective equipment, 2 not stopping at stop signs and 1 for improper license display. Citations were issued to Kasey Trammell, Gary Sours, Charlotte Fontenot, Jonathan Hardy, Jonathan Taylor, Matthew Billiot, Debbie Maxwell, Oscar Barrios and Kristopher Price. Arrests this week, 2 for domestic battery , 1 DWI, 1 disorderly conduct, 1 driving on a suspended license and 1 for possession of a controlled substance. Please E-mail me with questions or comments cwaring40@yahoo.com. Please slow down and have a good week.
