Robert McBride

My name is Robert McBride and I am seeking re-election as a director of the Community Club. I have served 4 years, including one year as treasurer and two as Vice President. The Board as presently constituted has worked openly and effectively for the benefit of all our membership and I wish to continue serving the Club in this manner. I believe that if you asked Club managers and other board members, they would agree that I have served with enthusiasm, openness and fair mindedness.I served my country faithfully in Army Intelligence during the Vietnam War. I graduated from the University of Arkansas, and earned a Masters of Business Administration there. I had a career in commercial insurance underwriting management, which required an in-depth knowledge of many types of businesses and an ability to make reasoned decisions for the benefit of my company and our clients.I have lived in Fairfield Bay for 12 years and have been active in many aspects of what I think is one of the best lifestyle locations in the country. In addition to membership in the FFB United Methodist church, I enjoy golf, tennis and the great swimming pools. But most of all I enjoy the friendship of a great mix of people who have made the same choice to live in a place that has both class and affordability. My future goal is to help make Fairfield Bay even better by growing our population with the same kind of people that the founder, Fairfield Communities, marketed to: educated professionals who bring a high quality of life to the Bay along with a desire to live and retire well. I believe that Fairfield Bay is on the right track to be the kind of place that is attractive for retirement, equipped for recreation and blessed by volunteerism. I ask for your support so that I may accomplish this for you.

Jerry Short
I have had the privilege of serving as a member of the Fairfield Bay Community Board for the past three years.  It is my desire to continue to be a conservative member of the Board for the next three year term.  Your vote is needed! •During my past three years on the Board, a new Mission and Vision Statement was developed.  I strongly believe the Board needs to continue to use this as a guideline in making decisions and taking action. •The national economy has had a dramatic impact upon our finances.  I will continue to take a conservative view on any voting that will affect our financial status. •The Board needs to develop and support department managers that responsibly monitor and control their budgets within established limits.  I will continue to have this as a management concern. •A new marketing department has been put in place to professionally market our community and the amenities it has to offer.  I enthusiastically support this effort. •It is apparent that we are not far from receiving some natural gas royalty funds.  The Board of Directors must have all members’ interest in the use of the funds.  My votes will always be with that concern. Prior to retiring and moving to Fairfield Bay, my professional background was in business and sales.  In 2000, my wife, Barbara, and I moved from Iowa to Fairfield Bay and built our home on Crest Drive.  I became an active member of our community by:Serving on the Indian Hills Country Club Advisory Board – 4 years, 2 as president;Serving on the Indian Hills Golf Association Board – 4 years, 1 as president;A member of the 9-Hole Men’s Golf League;Volunteering as a member of the Fairfield Bay Fire Department for over 5 yearsFor Fairfield Bay to grow and prosper, Board members must have the interest of all members, both local and those throughout the country.  I will be such a Board member.  I need YOUR VOTE to continue to monitor and support YOUR INTERESTS and that of our great and beautiful COMMUNITY.

Dallas Clark, Building Official, and Ray Nelson of Fairfield Bay donate their time and expertise in wiring the new log cabin at Ed Leamon Park.

Dear Editor:
The Van Buren County Master Gardeners Plant Sale, at Ed Leamon Park,  was a wonderful success and helped raise money that will be spent in our community and county on beautification and education projects.  The “Cabin” in the park is nearly complete thanks to Community Club, the Kirk of the Hills Men’s Club, Bob Berdine, Ray Nelson, Larry Raymond, Jerry Thompson, and Russ Sancho.   A special thanks to Dallas Clark, our Fairfield Bay Code Enforcement Officer, for wiring the cabin, making it possible for Janet Carson to broadcast her radio program during the plant sale.  Thank you, Dallas!

Dear Editor:
As a member of the Board of Directors of the Senior Center, I often wondered why citizens of Fairfield Bay did not take full advantage of the excellent facilities and programs provided at our Center. Well, on May 23, our citizens responded overwhelmingly to our fund raiser to assist the less fortunate in our aging program including “Meals on Wheels” when so many came to eat our gourmet Spaghetti dinner, that ran out of food and had to turn a few away at the door. To those who came, we thank you and promise that our next diner will be better than ever, and there will be more than enough food for all who came. So look forward to our next exciting big event.

Sincerely,

Tom Berry, Board Member
