Nearly 200 members were present for the District Rally and are proud that we are 6000 strong in Arkansas. The first Extension Homemakers Club was formed in Mabelvale AR (Pulaski County) in 1912 and can you believe that club is still active?! Kaye Green, AEHC President-Elect, announced that the 100 Year Celebration theme is “100 Years of service – from Washboards to Keyboards”. Also, we will install new officers during the conference and the 25 counties in the Ozark District were encouraged to work diligently on their “Oral History Interviews” for the statewide project. You’ll be hearing more about this local organization as we approach our centennial anniversary – so plan on helping us celebrate! Xi Gamma Kappa News

The “Joy of Stress” by Loretta LaRoche is a truly funny and wisdom filled video on dealing with the everyday stress in life. It teaches what a real guffaw feels like and the Xi Gamma Kappa Sorority did indeed laugh raucously at the video. It was easy to see that the points made by Ms. LaRoche could easily be incorporated into a daily routine to lessen the stress in one’s life. The program was presented by Bonnie Raymond and enjoyed by all. Delicious cakes were served by hostess Ethel Heimann before the business meeting and Jean Rumps birthday was celebrated with a song. The Membership Committee reported that the chapter had a full membership and a list of prospective members is being maintained. Plans were made to attend Murry’s Dinner Playhouse in November. The October social will be a visit and tour of the RoZark Hills Coffee Roasterie in Rosebud and lunch in Heber Springs. Hygiene products were collected from members to donate to Dove House and the meeting was adjourned by President Judy Johnson.

Budget Not Complete For 2012, Premature Release Of Unaudited Plans Regrettable.

October 25, 2011 by

Proof that two wrongs don’t make a right has never been more clear than the premature release of the Board’s consideration of closure of the IHCC, followed by the public retraction and announcement of a $5 monthly dues increase. Neither of those actions have been Board approved or incorporated into a final 2012 budget. The Board regrets that the analysis, evaluation, and deliberation required to create the best budget possible, spending every owner’s dues dollars as efficiently as possible, was short circuited this year. We accept responsibility for that and remain committed to completing the budget process in the same efficient, responsible way we have in past years. A town hall meeting will be called, hopefully in November, for the purpose of review and discussion of the finalized budget with the ownership. The Board has heard strong sentiment from both perspectives regarding the need to contain costs and provide the services that attracted owners to FFB as a place to retire. We also are committed to the necessary investments to grow FFB ownership, reducing the burden on each individual owner.
