Storyfest III is coming up on Saturday April 21. In case you haven’t yet ordered your tickets aka admission badges, we are telling you a story here about the storytellers to intrigue you and leave you wanting to meet them in person. This weeks highlight is storyteller Kevin Cordi. This is taken from the information on his website: For over twenty years, Kevin has told stories in over forty states, England, and Japan. His story work has been commissioned by the National Youth Storytelling Hall of Fame, Newsweek, and The Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. As a story teacher he is considered one of the “nation’s primary advocates for youth storytelling!” Kevin shares stories with a highly energetic, animated and interactive style and is considered by many storytelling professionals as one of the most influential and dynamic storytellers and teachers today. With each story he tells, the audience connects with Kevin—his passion shines through. His work is a must see for adults and kids alike. As Kevin puts it: “I truly believe that we can unlock the puzzle of learning with story. Whether I am on a stage with 800 adults or in a room with 50 preschoolers, I realize that when stories are told, people stop worrying about what to say, and enjoy what is being shared. Soon the room becomes alive with learning.” See Kevin Cordi and 3 more professional storytellers in Fairfield Bay on 4/21/12. Tickets are $15 for adults, 16 years of age or older. Children are free. Buy your tickets at Goodwin & Daughters, the Community Education Center, FFB Library or online at www.fairfieldbaystoryfest.com

Her painting was one of ten selected in the Visual Art Professional category. The Mustard Tree Art Festival is sponsored by the Little Rock Fellowship Bible Church and is in its sixth year. The Artists are given a theme that is inspired by biblical scriptures as a source for their artistic inspiration. The Festival includes competition in the Visual Arts, Songwriters, and Film Makers. The awards ceremony was March 26. There were three categories: Scholar (students 12-18 yrs.), Community, and Professional artists. Ten were selected from each category and a winner. There were Artists from all over the state and included one hundred and sixty five juried entries. Other Artists from our area that were juried into the exhibit were Julie Casewell, Jan Cobb, and Joyce Hartmann. Artists submitted their artwork along with a statement explaining the source for their artistic inspiration. This year’s theme was “All Things New”. Charlotte’s painting “Mysteries Revealed“, captures a glimpse into the mysteries revealed by God to John. In Rev. 4:3, a door opens into heaven and there were great bursts of light like a glittering diamond or a shining ruby, and like a rainbow glowing. God proclaimed these visions would happen before Christ ushers in the new heaven and earth in “All Things New”. The exhibit is open to the public March 25 thru April 8. Fellowship Bible Church, 1401, Kirk Rd. Little Rock. For more information and exhibit hours call 501-224-7171.

If you have ever wondered what a trip to Africa would look like, April 5 is your opportunity to find out. Seating is limited, so please RSVP at the library at 884-4930. Steven and I joined Pat and Bob Reeves to watch and hear the highlights of their most recent trip to Africa. I don’t know what I was expecting but when the lights came on 40 minutes later I felt I had been to this beautiful continent and I wanted to go again. The film was put together by Pat Reeves with incredible photography, wonderful music, and Pat’s informative narration. I highly recommend this to anyone who has any interest in the land, people, or animals of Africa. Steven and I were both wowed!!! The Fairfield Bay Library is sponsoring this presentation that will take place at the FFB Continuing Education Center in the Village Mall on Thursday, April 5 at 1 p.m. Pat will be answering questions after the film. There is no charge but you must register with the library in advance. Allow 45 minutes to see the film and ask questions. Take a trip….it’s part of your world.
