Otto Matthew Hanson, age 89, of Fairfield Bay, Arkansas, passed away Thursday, March 1, 2012, at the Indian Rock Village Assisted Living. Born in Chicago, Illinois, on November 9, 1922, he was the son of the late Harry W. and Elizabeth Edna (May) Hanson. Mr. Hanson was a retired employee of the Illinois State Highway Department. He was a veteran of World War II, having served our country in the United States Navy. Mr. Hanson was a member of the Peace Lutheran Church at Edgemont. Family members who preceded him in death include his parents; one stepson, Scott Anderson; three brothers, Wally Hanson, Harry Hanson, and Ron Hanson, all of Illinois; and one stepgranddaughter, Susan Martin of Texas. Mr. Hanson is survived by his wife, Phyllis Rogers Hanson of Fairfield Bay; one son, Charles “Chuck” Hanson and his wife, Ruth Ann, of Downers Grove, Illinois; one daughter, Carrie Hanson of Melrose Park, Illinois; one stepson, Mark Anderson and his wife, Pamela, of Greers Ferry; one stepdaughter, Victoria Watson and her husband, Keith, of Greers Ferry; three grandchildren, Mary Kay, Emma, and Jennifer; two stepgrandchildren; and several other grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mr. Hanson is also survived by other relatives and his many friends. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, March 14, 2012, at 10:30 a.m. at the Peace Lutheran Church at Edgemont with Pastor Jo Dietz officiating. Mr. Robert Jean Politovich 81 of Fairfield Bay,Arkansas passed away Monday February 20, 2012 in Little Rock, Arkansas. He was born November 22, 1930 in Centerville, Iowa to the late John Frank and Leola Grace (Farris) Politovich.
He is survived by his wife; Billie Jo (Winner)Politivich, two daughters; Marinea Mehnhoff, Donna Little, two brothers; Donald Politovich of Orville,Califorina, Curtis Politovich of Minneapolis, Minnesota, one half brother;Jack Politovich, two half sisters; Claudia and Betty.
He is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
Mr. Politovich served in the Marines. He served in the Korean and Vietnam Wars.
Arrangements are under the care of Roller-McNutt Funeral Home of Clinton.

Billie Bonita Riter was born November 17, 1934 in Danville, Arkansas and was a graduate of Little Rock Central High School in 1952. She retired as an Administrative Accountant from Pima College. She lost her brave battle with cancer on February 17, 2012 at home with her family. She was preceeded in death by her mother, Sibyl B. Harrison and a daughter, Kathryn C. Pack. Survived by Ronald L. Pack and their children: daughter, Tricia A. Bowen; sons, Ronald E. Pack, Gary D. Pack (daughter-in-law, Vaiva L. Pack) and daughter/granddaughter, Tasha M. Burr, grandchildren, Shannon K. Schultz and Kyla A Voge; great grandchildren, Paige and Shane Lawler, Ian, Hayden, Landen, and Ryan Burr, Savannah, Cole, and Carson Mizell. Billie was an active member of Hope United Methodist Church for over 30 years and enjoyed making crafts and watching movies. Gilbert Beeler, 84, died December 23, 2011 in Fairfield Bay after a brief illness. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m., February 21, 2012, at Olmstead Woodland Chapel, 11955 Edgemont Rd., Edgemont, AR. Gilbert was born April 19, 1927 in Warren County, Iowa to Arthur and Rosa (Silverise) Beeler. The family moved to the east side of Des Moines where he formed strong values and work ethics. Joining the U.S. Navy in 1944, he served proudly during World War II. After the war, he worked at Pittsburgh-Des Moines Steel Co., developing skills he would use his entire life. Gilbert married Eloise Moore May 16, 1953, the same year they moved to Los Angeles, California. They were blessed with three beautiful daughters, Belinda, Mary and Marie. From 1960 to the mid-1980s he co-owned the successful Los Angeles Air Conditioning, Inc. In 1987, he and Eloise moved to Fairfield Bay, AR, where unfortunately Eloise passed away in February of 1990. He later married Phyllis Grenko and they spent twenty years together, dividing time between Arkansas, Iowa and Florida. Phyllis died in April of 2011. A hard worker all his life, Gilbert also had much to enjoy after retiring; fishing at Greers Ferry Lake (AR), Rathbun Lake (IA), Lake Okeechobee (FL). He also took pride in restoring antique automobiles to their original condition. Gilbert generously supported those who needed help, and he remained dedicated to his family until his death. Gilbert is survived by his daughters, Belinda (Russell) Marsh of Orange, CA, Mary (Frank) Picarelli of Matthews, NC, Marie Howell of Davie, FL; his grandchildren, Madison, Meaghan and Morghan Marsh, Joseph, Rachel and Rebecca Picarelli, and Max and Rylee Howell; nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wives, Eloise and Phyllis; sisters, Elizabeth Geisinger and Regina Winegardner; brother, John Beeler; and son-in-law, Rick Howell.

Lois Malfatti, 84, of Fairfield Bay, AR was called home Sunday, February 5, 2012 at Conway Regional Hospital, Conway, AR. (of ntural causes). Born November 10, 1927 in Morris, Ill. Lois was the only child of John and Ruth (Flatness) Nelson. She was married to George Malfatti, Sr. in 1953. They resided in Morris, Ill. until 1985 and moved to Bartlett, Ill. In 1993 they retired and moved to Fairfield Bay, AR. She is survived by three sons, Stephen of Colorado Springs, George, Jr. of Ill. and John of Conway, AR., seven grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. She was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Morris and fellowshipped with Cornerstone Evangelical Church in Arkansas. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. The family will hold private memorial services. She, as her husband, donated their bodies to the University of Arkansas Medical Sciences research Studies.

Marian “Jeanne” T. Lolmaugh, 79, of Pittsburg, KS, passed away Monday, January 23, 2012, at Via Christi Hospital in Pittsburg. She was born in Wichita, KS on October 30, 1932, the eleventh of thirteen children to Peter and Matilda (Lies) Neises. Marian lived in Wichita for the majority of her life and later retired to Fairfield Bay, AR. She worked as a bookkeeper for various companies. On April 19, 1952, she married Edward Pelz. He preceded her in death December 21, 1960. She later married Roy Lolmaugh on November 19, 1964. He preceded her in death December 23, 1999. Survivors include two daughters, Vicki Van Becelaere (Don) of Pittsburg and Doreen Hibbard (Charles) of Louisburg, KS; one son, Steven Pelz of Overland Park, KS; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild; and one sister, Arlene Sperling of Wichita. Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 28, 2012, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Frontenac. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. with a rosary at 7 p.m. on Friday, January 27 at Bath-Naylor Funeral Home in Pittsburg. Private family burial will take place at a later date in Fairfield Bay, AR. Lowell Allen (Bud) Brockman, 89, 27 year resident of Fairfield bay, Arkansas, passed away on January 2, 2012, exhausted from living a remarkable life. He will rest in peace overlooking the Puget Sound and Mount Rainier from Gig Harbor, Washington with his grandson. Bud was born on June 11, 1922, in Harlan, Iowa to Carl and Ida Brockman. After graduating from High School, he proudly served his country in the U.S Army, 34th Infantry Division. He received field commissions during the Tunisian campaign and at Anzio rose to the rank of First Lieutenant. Bud returned home to attend the University of Iowa, where he had the good fortune to meet Ruth Ann Morris. They were married on December 21, 1946, and were devoted to each other fromthe next 65 years. LeMars, Iowa became their home. He graduated from Westmar College in 1950. Over the years he continued his education at the U. of Iowa, earning his Masters degree plus hours beyond. He began his teaching, coaching and administrative career at Moville High School with subsequent stops at Westmar College, LeMars High School and Morningside College. In addition to teaching, his duties included coaching football and basketball, track and golf for men and women. He also was a PGA golf professional and was the golf pro at LeMars Country Club and Morningside Country Club for many years. He continued his PGA membership and instructed golf during his retirement. His teaching assignments focused on the sciences, including Chemistry, Biology, Anatomy, Kinesiology and the Health Sciences. He was head of the Health, Physical Education and Recreation Department and also served a period as Athletic Director at Morningside College. He was known as a skilled and compassionate recruiter. Bud mentored thousands of men and women throughout his career. Along the way, he earned many awards, accolades and victories but what he held dear were the relationships he had with his students and athletes. He took delight in celebrating people’s successes, ensuring their well-being and sharing their stories. he practiced this art as a starter at Mountain Ranch for a number of years. Over the years, many people returned to play Mountain Ranch and looked forward to being greeted by Bud on the first tee box. Survivors include his wife, Ruth; his daughter, Beth Lane and husband Robert of Gig Harbor, WA; grandson, Christopher of Seattle, WA; son, James of bradenton, FL; brothers, Richard and wife Karen Brockman of Shelby, IA; Dewey and wife Carol Brockman of Council Bluffs, IA; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Ida Brockman, grandson, Jefrey Lane, sisters Edith White and Viola Butterbaugh and brothers, Lyle and Robert Brockman. William G. Thon, age 89, of Fairfield Bay, Arkansas, passed away Friday, January 13, 2012, at the Indian Rock Village. Born in Chicago, Illinois, on January 24, 1922, he was the son of the late William G. and Jane (Glenn) Thon. A former resident of Glen Ellyn, Illinois, Mr. Thon had worked in sales as a pharmaceutical representative to veterinarians. He was a veteran of World War II, having served our country in the United States Army. Mr. Thon was a longtime resident of Fairfield Bay, having lived there for almost thirty years, and he was active in his community as a member of the Rotary Club, Lions Club, Scimitar Shrine Club, American Legion, V.F.W., past president of the Lakewood Condominium Homeowners Association, and former director of the Animal Protection League. Mr. Thon was a member of the Fairfield Bay United Methodist Church. He is survived by his younger brother, James, of Illinois, wife, Peggy Thon of Fairfield Bay; two daughters, Holly Smith of Urbandale, Iowa, and Gail Redding and her husband, Richard Redding, Sr., of Valentine, Nebraska; three grandchildren, Richard Redding, Jr., Michael Redding and his wife, April, and Courtney Ha and her husband, Michael; and two great grandchildren, Mason and Natalie. He was preceded in death by his twin sister, Marjorie. Mr. Thon is also survived by other relatives and his many friends. A memorial service will be held Friday, Jan. 20, at 11:00 a.m. at the Fairfield Bay United Methodist Church with Rev. Paul Strang officiating. Inurnment will be in the church’s columbarium.
