Celebration of the Life of Christine Leister

Chris Leister of Indian Rock Village, Fairfield Bay, Arkansas died after 88 years life, on February 11, 2010. Her death followed several weeks of hospitalization and a brief time in the Health Care unit at Indian Rock.

Chris was born to Harriet and John Lee Rogerson on January 1, 1922 in McKeesport, PA. She was educated at St. Margaret’s Hospital School of Nursing in Pittsburgh, PA and then served Elizabeth Township there as a school nurse for some time. Chris pursued further studies in nursing at the University of Pittsburgh and continued those studies in Dallas, TX where she later received a Master’s Degree in Health Education. Chris taught health, and was also a professional Girl Scout leader, directing camps for this organization.

Her love of camping found a wonderful outlet when she moved to Colorado where she built a home in the mountains and lived for a number of years prior to moving to Fairfield Bay.

Chris is survived by several beloved cousins and their families, as well as numerous friends across the country. Her love of God,  life,  all persons, o animals, and her contagious smile with twinkling eyes will be celebrated at Peace Lutheran Church on Saturday, February 27, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. We hope that the community will join the members of her Peace family in this joyous celebration of Chris’ life! Coffee, cookies and fellowship will follow.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers  memorials for Chris be given to Peace Lutheran Church.
