Obituary: Phyllis Oppedal

Phyllis Oppedal 87, of Fairfield Bay, Arkansas passed away Saturday, August 7, 2010 just a few hours before her 88th birthday. She was born August 8, 1922 in Stanhope, Iowa to the late Isaac and Petrina (Satre) Oppedal.

She suffered polio when she was 8 years old. With crutches and braces, she was able to graduate from Story City, Iowa High School and Waldorf Junior College Forst City, Iowa. With the assistance of her younger sister, she was able to serve over thirty years as a civilian payroll official for the Iowa National Guard before retiring.

She is survived by three sisters, Helen Bahle, Elaine Cerne, and Dorothy Ahlquist.

Memorial Service will be held at 2:00pm Friday, August 13, 2010 at Peace Lutheran Church Edgemont, Arkansas. She will be Interred in the Columbarium at Peace Lutheran.

Memorials can be made to: Peace Lutheran Church or Indian Rock Village.

Cremation Arrangements are under the care and direction of Roller-McNutt Funeral Home of Clinton, Arkansas.
