Norma Jean Thompson, age 79, of Fairfield Bay, Arkansas passed away Sunday, December 14, 2008 at her home. Born on February 2, 1929 in Illinois, she was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Jasper.
Mrs. Thompson was a retired school teacher and a member of the Fairfield Bay Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Harold Lloyd Thompson; two sons, Chant Thompson and wife Marsha, and Tannen Thompson; several grandchildren as well as other relatives and many friends.
Memorial services are scheduled for Wednesday, December 17, 2008 at 11:00 am in the Fairfield Bay Baptist Church with Rev. Ken Reece officiating.

Adam Wayne Gibbons 23, of Shirley, Arkansas passed away Saturday, October 10, 2009 at Branch, Arkansas. He was born August 24, 1986 at Clearinda, Iowa to Kenneth L. and Mary Lou Mattly Gibbons.He is preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Archie Mattly, paternal grandfather, Gene Gibbons, and uncle, Ron Gibbons.He is survived by his parents, Kenneth L. and Mary Lou Gibbons of Shirley, AR; sister, Rebecka Ann Bradford and husband Rodney of Shirley, AR; two brothers, Joe Linn Burch of Clinton, AR; and Michael Allen Burch of Fairfield Bay, AR; maternal grandmother, Florence Mattly of Bedford, Iowa; paternal grandmother, Mary E. Alex raymond Mahalko
Alex Raymond Mahalko was born to earth August 23, 1930 to Alex and Alice foley Mahalko in Chicago, Il and died on October 15, 2009 in Heber Springs, Arkansas at the age of 79. A resident of Edgemont, Arkansas, he was a loving family man, a retired Master carpenter, and a member of the St. Francis Catholic Church in FAirfield Bay. He served his country in the United States Army in Korea and in the Navy reserve. He was in the Honor Guard and a member of the Veteran of Foreign Wars Post #330. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a helper to friends and neighbors.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Ed Mahalko. He is survived by his wife Veronica Mahalko, a daughter Linda Pacha and husband Tom of IL., a son Paul Mahalko of IL., a ste-daughter Judy Biggins and husband Bob of IL., two step-sons, Gilbert Klingberg and wife Rhonda, Jeff Klingberg and wife Jane, nine grandchildren and 14 great great-grandchildren, other relatives and many friends. Done with his work on earth, he has gone to his heavenly home.
A Mass of christian Burial was held on Saturday, October 16, 2009 at the St. Francis catholic Church in FAirfield Bay with FAther Oliver Ochieze officiating. Burial with Military Honors was held in Woodland Memorial Park Cemetary.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Francis Catholic Church in Fairfield Bay.

Arthur (Fuzzy) Isaac Archer 81, of Dennard, AR died Monday, July 14,
2008 at his home. He was corn Oct. 25, 1926 to the late Will and Mae Rumley Archer and lived at Dennard most of his life. He served in the US Navy during WWII.
He was preceded in death by is wife Jewell Smith Archer, two brothers Henry Archer and Hobart Archer and sisters Dora Jordan, Jewell Jolly and Zedia Jolly.
Survivors include step-son Robert Lee Smith of Marshall, brothers Thomas Archer of Laguna Hills, CA and Garner Archer of Gait, CA, sisters Belle Cotton of Galt, CA, Doris Lee Williams of Galt CA, and Willie Mae Hinchey of Dennard, AR, and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services will be 10:00 am Wed., July 16, 2008 at the Dennard Community Church at Dennard with burial in the Dennard Cemetery with Tom Jolly officiating.

Joe Barger, 86, of Bozeman, MT died July 3, 2007 in his home. Joe was born March 22, 1921 in Madison, South Dakota, to J.H. and Martha Barger.
He was a member of the South Dakota National Guard and a Veteran of World War II.
After being a transmission superintendent for Northwest Iowa Power Coop in LeMars, Iowa for 31 years, he and his wife Dorothy retired to Fairfield Bay Arkansas in 1984. They later moved to Arvada, Colorado and then to Bozeman, Montana. He was active in the United Methodist Church, Mason/Shrine, VFW, Lions and other civic groups.
His survivors include his wife Dorothy; daughter Mary and son-in-law Paul Tone; two grandsons, Chris Tone (Stacy) and Chad Tone (Kathie); one great-grandson; two great granddaughters; one brother, Bill Barger, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister. Burial will be held in LeMars, Iowa at a later date.
Bernece (Reid) Tesch, age 87, of Fairfield Bay, Arkansas, passed away Saturday,
Betty Delores Mahnken 85, of Fairfield Bay, Arkansas, ( formerly of Kansas City, Missouri) passed away Sunday, May 3, 2009 at Ozark Health Medical Center in Clinton, AR. She was born November 18, 1923 in Missouri to the late John Virgil and Helen Marie Bidstrup Quint.
She graduated from Smith-Cotton High School in Sedalia and married David Mahnken of Smithton, Missouri, on October 5, 1946. Betty was a piano teacher in the Kansas City area all her life. She was involved for many years as a member of the Kansas City Music Teachers Association, the Missouri Music Teachers Association and was instrumental in organizing music contests at the Missouri State Fair.
Betty loved her music, traveling to national parks, and her cats. She passed on the love of all of these things to her children. After Betty and Dave retired to Fairfield Bay, Arkansas in 1987, Betty taught students from the Shirley and Fairfield Bay, Arkansas areas. She served as the Fairfield Bay United Methodist Church organist for many years and also provided music at many functions throughout the area.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband, David Mahnken. She is survived by her children, Sherri Mahnken (Dan Bailey) of Denver, Colorado, Carol Marshall (Kirk) of Kansas City, Missouri, and Steve Mahnken (Kathy) of Shawnee, Kansas. She is also survived by her three nieces, Susan, April, and Julie.
Memorial services will be 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 23, 2009 at the Fairfield Bay United Methodist Church in Fairfield Bay, Arkansas. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to the American Cancer Society.
Cremation Arrangements are under the direction of Roller McNutt Funeral Home of Clinton, Arkansas.

Carmen Howe Munro, 87, of Cannon Falls, formerly of Fairfield Bay, died Saturday, March 22, 2008 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester following a short illness.
Services were held March 25 at the First Congregational Church, UCC in Cannon Falls, Minnesota. A private family burial will take place at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Library at The View or the Shepard Center.
Carmen Howe Munro was born March 29, 1920 in New Richmond, Wisconsin, the daughter of Louis and Caroline (Hulverson) Howe. She lived for a time in New Richmond, and moved with her family to Saint Paul where she received her education. Following her schooling, she was employed by the Saint Paul Fire and Marine Insurance Company. In October of 1949, she was united in marriage to Hugh L. Munro, the couple made their home in St. Paul until moving to Cannon Falls in 1954, where she raised her family. In 1981, the couple moved to Fairfield Bay until returning to Cannon Falls in October of 2003. She moved after the passing of her husband to Northfield in 2005 and then to The View in Cannon Falls in 2007.
Carmen had been a member of the Eastern Star, was an active member of the First Congressional Church and particularly enjoyed reading, knitting, traveling with her husband and visiting with friends and neighbors.
Carmen is survived by her two sons; Hugh L. Munro, Jr. of Springfield, MO, Jim (Eileen) Munro of Carrollton, TX, her brother Clare (Josephine) Howe of San Jose, CA, several nieces and nephews, & very special friends-Leon & Paulette Hanson, Meghann, Gavin & Mackenzie, all of Cannon Falls.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Hugh, and three brothers, Gilmore, Newell and Stuart.

Charles Edward Turner, 81, of Fairfield Bay, formerly of Glen Ellyn, IL, passed away Tuesday, March 4, at Baptist Hospital in Little Rock.
Born September 17, 1926, to the late George and Nadine (Scurrah) Turner, he was a member of the Fairfield Bay Methodist, the VFW, Treasurer of the Fairfield Bay Rotary Club, an avid Golfer and member of the Fairfield Bay Country Club, a wonderful father, and beloved friend.
Survivors include four daughters; Christine Sullivan (John), Sue Huyser (Phillip), Wendy Golec (Ken), and Melissa Worthing (Mike), ten grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Janice (Christianson) Turner.

Charles O. Wright 72, of Fairfield Bay, AR. passed away January 15, 2009. He was born June 27, 1936 in Corning, AR to the late Cloyd and Notra Lincoln Wright. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of Vietnam and retired after 20 years of service from 1956-1976 to his Country. And than worked in the Clay County Assessors Office. He was the Past Dept.
Commander of the State of Arkansas from 1991-1992 and a member of V.F.W. Post 4513 of Fairfield Bay. He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Bill Wright, and stepson Greg Barloon. He is survived by his wife Marjorie I. "Marge" Cory Wright, step-sons David Barloon & wife Kathy and Jeff Barloon; daughters Mary Finley & husband Stanley, Judy Grimes & husband Mike, Melinda Young & husband Don, step-daughter Brenda Smith & husband Alan; sister Louann Brudner; five grandchildren Magen McGrew, Jeff Young, Tyler Greve, Madison Finley, and Serena Finley, six step-grandchildren Dalton Smith, Austin Smith, Jordan Barloon, Garrett Barloon, Brandon Barloon and Brittnae Barloon.
Memorial Service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, January 24, 2009 at the Fairfield Bay First United Methodist Church.
Donald Johnston Wiebmer, M.D., of Fairfield Bay, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, April 23, 2008. Madeline, his wife of 64 years whom he loved deeply, survives.
Don was born in Quincy, Illinois, on November 6, 1918, the only child of Anton and Laura (Johnston) Wiebmer. His closest childhood friend and double cousin, Bill (and Barbra) Wiebmer of St. Charles, Illinois, also survives. Don was an Eagle Scout. He received his M.D. degree from the University of Illinois and did his internship at St. Luke’s Hospital in Chicago where he met a nurse, Madeline Olson, Whom he married on November 23, 1943.
Immediately following the wedding, Don left for England to serve as a physician in the Army Air Force. He has postings in England, France, and Germany during his three years (1943-46) of WWII service.
Upon return from the war, Don and Lynn settled in Alton, Illinois, where he maintained a private medical and surgical practice for 35 years. Don was board certified with the Fellows of the American Collage of Otolaryngology.
Survivors include four children: Judy (Bill) Crichton of Spokane, Washington; Mary (Steve) Culp of Atlanta, Georgia; John (Ning) Wiebmer of Peoria, Illinois; and Ann (Scott) Strang of Little Rock. Survivors also include 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
A memorial service was held Saturday, April 26, 11am at Pearce Lutheran Church in Edgemont, Arkansas, officiated by Pastor Dean Fodness. Memorials for Don may be made to the American Cancer Society or peace Lutheran Church.
Donna K. McNutt, 85, of Fostoria, passed away on Tuesday, October 23, 2007 at the Fostoria Community Hospital, Fostoria.
She was born in Fostoria on July 19, 1922 to the late Arthur J. and Mary Effie (Rodgers) Buck. She married Robert H. McNutt in Fostoria on February 16, 1946, and he precedes her in death.
Surviving Donna are a Niece, Kristine A. Courtney, Fostoria; great nieces, Anne Courtney, Columbus, and Susan (Nab) Kundu, Akron; and a great nephew, Jason Courtney, Columbus. Also preceding her in death is a sister, M.
Oletha Gutknecht.
Donna was a school teacher for 30 years, and a member of the Fostoria High School Alumni Class of 1940, the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, the Seneca County Retired Teachers, and the Wesley United Methodist Church.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, November 2, 2007 at the Veteran¹s Memorial Chapel of Fountain Cemetery, Fostoria, Rev. Dr. Brian Jones, officiating.

Donna Ruth Fransway, age 85, of Tucson, Arizona, passed away on March 7, 2008, in Tucson. Born in Hensel, North Dakota, on October 15, 1922, she was the daughter of the late George A. and Emma (Walker) Bell.
Dorothy (Dottie) Posten Gallangher age 92, formerly a resident of Fairfield Bay, AR, died December 31, 2007 in Des Moines, Iowa.
Dorothy was born July 25, 1915 in Gravity, IA to Stella and Oliver Posten. She was a graduate of Drake University where she majored in music. While attending Drake, she sang in a trio performing on the WHO Saturday Night Barn Dance. She also formed and sang in a Barbershop quartet called The Chord Queens. Music was her passion and she was instrumental in the establishment of the bell choir at St. Johns Lutheran Church in Des Moines. She was a member of the Delta Gamma sorority.
Dorothy married Leonard W. Gallagher in 1935. They both were active in Drake Relays, as Leonard and his brother Roland both ran track for Drake University. In 1978 Len and Dorothy retired to Fairfield Bay, where she played flute in the Fairfield Bay Trio, was active in Ladies Golf, Questers, and was minister of music at the Kirk of the Hills Presbyterian Church, she was also a member of PEO.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and in 1987 her husband, Leonard.
Survivors include her son, Jeff (Jane) Gallagher, Des Moines, IA, and daughter Debby (Denny) Battrick of Folsom, CA. Also included are four grandchildren: Kathleen Gallagher, Chicago, IL, Jeff (Trisha) Battrick, Scott (Krista) Battrick, Bothell, WA and Jason Battrick, Snohomish, WA; six great-grandchildren; Brianna, Tyler, Ashley, Hanna, Kayleigh, and Taylor Battrick of Bothell, WA. Additional survivors include her Sister-in-Law, Evelyn (Roland) Gallagher, Des Moines, IA, and neice Melinda Neumann, Des Moines and nephew, Tim Hallagher, Littleton, CO.
A family service will be held at Resthaven Cemetery on January 18, 2008. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in her name for Alzheimer’s Association of Iowa. We would also like to thank all of the staff t Trinity Center at Luther Park for the excellent cre, help and support that was given to Dorothy.
Dr. Sophia P. McCay, MD, died after a brief illness on Jan. 1, 2008. She was born 84 years ago in Budapest, Hungary to Geza Gabor Pinter and Otillia Pikler Pinter. She is survived by her children, Rick McCay and wife Diane of Mt. Grove, Mo. And Cecelia McCay Killough and husband Kyle, of Wynne, AR. She had 5 loving grandsons, Jonathan, Ryan and Richard of Mt. Grove, Mo., and Ian and Oliver Killough of Wynne. Sophia moved to the United States during World War 2, obtained her medical degree from the University of Colorado and practiced psychiatry at a variety of settings during her life. Remember her love of others by donating to her favorite cause, Heifer Project International.
Duane “Dewey” Boelter, 82, passed away on September 28, 2008 in Des. Moines, Iowa. Memorial services will be held on Oct. 30 at noon, Park Ave. Methodist Church (3400 Park Ave.) in Minneapolis, MN. Burial will follow at 2:00, Ft. Snelling Nat’l Cemetery.
Dewey was born March 30, 1926 in Fountain, Minnesota. Dewey was a veteran of the U.S. Army, a teacher for several years and retired from the City of Minneapolis as a City Planner. Dewey and his wife Bobbie lived in Fairfield Bay for many years before moving to Des. Moines.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Roberta (Bobbie) Boelter; parents, Frank and Erna Boelter and his brother Harland.
Dewey is survived by his stepson Larry (Jacqueline) Long; stepdaughters Linda (Ron Soderholm) Long and Chris (Tim) Maloney; brother John (Delores Johnson) Boelter; sister Elaine Rogers; grandchildren Jacob Long, Lura Long and Alana Wynne; many nieces and nephews and cousins.

Edith Mae Shanstrom-Beatty, 90, passed away at 1:00 a.m., February 20 in Waconia, Minnesota after complications from Pneumonia-respiratory flu. She was born March 4, 1917 at St. Mary’s Hospital to Harvey and Pearl Shanstrom.
She married John Brooks Beatty August 1, 1943, who proceeded her in death February 14, 2000. During World War II she was a red cross volunteer, and helped her parents and Grandfather run Opp’s Barber and Beauty Supply, a company her grandfather had founded. Her sister Helen passed away in March with strokes and her brother Harvey M. Shanstrom died June 15, 1987 from a heart attack.
As a young girl, she also did some work for a newspaper and was very active in Eastern Star. She and Brooks raised their children in Des Moines, Iowa, 3 years in Ames, Iowa. Edith worked for the register and Tribune paper during the 60’s and 70’s, winning recognition for her attendance.
Faithful to Grace Methodist Church, they retired to Fairfield Bay with other couples from the church in 1979. They were both active in the Methodist church in the Bay, DAR, Lions and Audubon, just to name a few. She and Brooks loved to square, and made the rounds to drive and visit their children all summer. They were fortunate to travel to many countries-Peru, Venezeula, Russia, France, Japan, China, Ireland and Germany to name a few. She continued her sewing, quilting (also teaching it), built doll houses, toll painted and loved to SHOP, COLLECT and GARDEN!
Active until she entered a nursing home 5 years ago, first partial, then full care near her son Jon, in Minnesota, she leaves behind: 5 children, Becky Sue Cordova, White Rock, New Mexico; Pearl Ann Siroospour-Confer, Colorado; Jon Patrick Beatty-Minnetonka, Minnesota; David Brooks Beatty-Chicago, IL; Harvey George Beatty-Dallas, TX; 10 grandchildren and 3, soon to be 4, great-grandsons. Willing her body to the University Medical School in Minnesota, when her ashes return there will be a private memorial with her children.
